Advantages and Disadvantages of Distance Learning


Distance education is the most preferred means of education in today’s time. A person who wants to earn and learn at the same time usually pursue distance education course. Distance education allows a person enhance their learning skills without affecting their job.
Everything has its own advantages and disadvantages. Distance learning too has various advantages and disadvantages.  Some of the advantages and disadvantages are below:

ADVANTAGES
First let’s discuss about the advantages of the distance learning.
·         Flexibility

With a distance-learning course, person can prefer to stay back at home or even work somewhere. If your correspondence center provides the online facility, you can submit assignments and even appear for examination online. All that is required is a computer and internet connection for online classes. If you are having a busy life, like you are working somewhere, you can learn a lot without attending classes on regular basis.

·         Lots of Options regarding schools and courses

     Numerous choices regarding colleges, universities, and courses are available to the students. One can have access to any university in any part of world. Internet connection and computer will help to learn, and reach any part. Seats are limited in regular courses, and everyone cannot afford to join the regular course. Distance education is therefore the right option.

·         Lowered Costs

Regular courses have a lot of fees. Everyone can’t afford the fee structure of colleges or universities in regular program. Costs are lower in distance mode. Even the commuting charges are least. Distance learning candidates can learn from home, so no transportation charges.

DISADVANTAGES

After talking about advantages, it is time to talk about disadvantages. Various disadvantages are as:
·         All Courses are not offered in Distance Mode

The distance-learning mode offers a number of courses still there are some courses that do not fall under distance learning. Some courses that require more practical session’s are not under distance-learning course.

·         Not Acceptable to Everyone

The distance learning education is not acceptable to everyone. Even there are certain employers who do not consider distance education degree or course. You need to analyze for each and every thing before enrolling for a distance course.

·         Lack of social Interaction

In traditional classes, a lot of interaction is there. But in distance classes, little or no interaction is found between students. No doubt some interaction in forums will be there but person-to-person interaction is missing.

These were some of the advantages and disadvantages. You need to research on your own and find out the course that will enhance you personality.
